Life is to be enjoyed! Don’t let hunger get in the way of a good time! Check out my plant-based recipes for satisfying, healthy meals to fuel your outdoor adventures! These can easily be made in-camp (or at home) with packable ingredients. Pack lists included!

You don’t need a full kitchen and refrigerator to eat well at camp. My philosophy has always been to keep it simple, but keep the quality high! Even with my largest groups I can feed everyone out of a 150-quart cooler and similar space for dry goods. That’s feeding breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks to 30+ hungry hikers for up to a week without restocking! Smaller groups for shorter duration will obviously require less storage space, and these same recipes can be tailored to even ultralight camping with slight modifications. How much you bring just depends on your group size and camping plans. In each recipe I will include a packing list to help plan your menu and storage to maximum benefit!

Your heat source is also up to you. I have used these recipes on professional-grade four burner stoves hooked up to a propane tank, typical two burner camp stoves with screw on gas bottles, one burner dual-fuel stoves, and even over the campfire!

There is nothing more satisfying after a long day of hiking through the wilderness than good food. Keeping campers well fed is one of the most important ways to keep the group’s spirits high, but there is a limit to how many times you can feed someone hot dogs and canned beans before they start to lose their luster. It’s important to have variety and flavor in camp food, just as it is in life! That’s where Big Spoon comes in.

For over a decade I have been charged with keeping taste buds happy for groups of people ranging from 30+ hard working students camping out for three weeks straight to my hungry hiking family on a weekend outing.

Whether it’s a big group or small group, contented bellies in the evening go a long way towards staving off thoughts of going home and helping everyone recharge for the next day’s efforts!

Join me as I offer you the recipes, planning tips, and tricks I have learned over the years to turn your camp cookery up a notch or two and help you to create a more enjoyable and healthy outdoor experience for your whole group!

Now, let’s get outside and cook!
